Welcome to Mobile Mzansi

Who we are and what we do

Our goal is inclusivity and active citizenship in finding solutions to problems local communities face through the use of mobile phone video stories.

Having the local communities as players in identifying and voicing out their problems makes them active citizens. This is not just identifying a problem for the sake of it but with the intent to solving it with a social entrepreneurship intervention.

Through these video stories, we seek to assist policy makers, the government, investors, civil society to understand the social and economic environment of South Africa which is crucial for informed investment decisions, good governance, and sustainable development interventions.

We aim to showcase these stories online in order to partner with communities, entrepreneurs, NGOs, big business and government on how to solve such social problems through viable sustainable social enterprise.

Big business and their corporate social investments also have opportunities in this initiative as it makes their work for social investment much easier. They are able to identify communities and sectors to invest in much faster.

Government departments and municipalities often accused of bureaucracy and slack in service delivery will find Mobile Mzansi handy in dealing with teething problems that require empowerment. Donor and development aid organisations have an opportunity to identify sectors and communities that will require progressive and innovative partnerships rather than aid.
